I don’t know about you, but I can hardly believe we’re already in the first week of November! Here in the USA Halloween is behind us and Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. The weather is changing, the stores are bedecked with decorations and stocked with holiday favorites, and you may have already heard Christmas melodies playing on the radio.
Many people have already started (or nearly finished) their Christmas shopping, while many others (like me) are just realizing that maybe we should start thinking about it! My wife, of course, plans ahead much more than I. Every year she asks me what I’d like for Christmas, and every year I don’t know what to tell her.
The truth is, I have more stuff than I know what to do with! I really don’t need any more stuff. So this quote from well-known minimalist Courtney Carver strikes a chord:
“Don’t make space for more stuff. Make space for more life.”
“Make space for more life”…. I love that. Enjoy the stuff you already have. Utilize your stuff to create more joy. Bless others with the stuff you don’t need. Appreciate simplicity. Enjoy tidy closets, empty shelves, and furniture-free spaces.
So this holiday season, as you make your lists and do your shopping, think about following Courtney Carver’s advice. “Don’t make space for more stuff”… make space for making the most out of your life!
