Awhile back I saw and shared the following social media post:
In sharing this, I am not advocating that you should hold a grudge against those who have wronged you. But rather, I agree with the idea that we should never forget—and thus should be aware of—the types of people mentioned above, and handle those relationships with corresponding prudence.
What are a person’s character traits? What are their habits? What are the telltale signs that a person will be a trustworthy and loyal friend versus a fair-weather friend—or worse, a foe? There are many types of people in our lives, and while none of us are immune to disappointment or betrayal from someone we counted as a friend, we all can use greater discretion when building relationships.
Those we choose to surround ourselves with, those we count as friends, should not be just random! As I have said before:
“Carefully select friends and colleagues who will elevate you to be your best self, and who will constantly encourage you to proactively stretch toward your full potential. Then do the same for them!”
— Dan Nielsen
Those are the kinds of relationships you can depend on. Those are the type of people you will never forget—for good reason!
