The Iceberg of Success

When you think of success, what comes to mind? What does success look like to you? I believe most of us, when asked to picture “success,” immediately visualize the end result and not the process of getting there. We focus on the destination, not the journey.

But what if we started thinking of success differently? What if we more readily acknowledged the realities of the success journey and all it involves? I think it’s time we lend more credit to those who are still traveling the road and haven’t yet “arrived”—including ourselves!

And when we really consider all the factors at play on the road to success, we not only begin celebrating those still striving for success, we more deeply understand the significance of the success already achieved—by others or by ourselves.

This clever graphic being shared on social media gives an excellent visual of the realities of success:

Sure, there are those who have had certain aspects of success “handed to them on a silver platter,” but by far the great majority of the highly successful in this world have worked and worked and worked for it! I say we celebrate that hard work as much as its culmination!
