I find Michael Hyatt to be one of the most relevant bloggers I read. He is constantly providing new content of great value and relevance to those wishing to maximize productivity and effectiveness. For someone who is continually seeking to learn new things, I find the information Hyatt presents to be highly engaging and beneficial.
In a recent episode of his “This is Your Life” podcast, Hyatt discusses his top 10 productivity hacks to make the most of your work hours:
- “Eliminate Online Distractions” – Distractions are endless when attempting to work online. Hyatt recommends turning off notifications or using apps like Freedom to eliminate distractions.
- “Schedule Time Alone” – Purposely schedule time to be alone to think and get things done.
- “Batch Similar Tasks Together” – Grouping tasks allows you to be more efficient with your time.
- “Identify Your Must-Do’s” – Hyatt describes it as asking yourself, “What are the three things I absolutely, positively must get done today in order to have a win, to be successful and productive?”
- “Eliminate, Automate, and Delegate” – Hyatt focuses specifically on delegation. Find what you do well and delegate the rest.
- “Hire Virtual Assistants” – Hyatt explains, “Offload the stuff that drains you, the stuff that’s exhausting, the stuff that (frankly) you’re not very good at.”
- “Invest in Coaching” – Find a mentor, instructor, or coach that works for you. One of my personal favorites is Platform University by Michael Hyatt. When truly leveraged and applied, this is an investment worth every penny!
- “Acquire Better Tools” – Oftentimes being overly focused on only the initial cost or investment riddles us with efficiency issues. A laptop only runs as smooth as its latest software. Keep your tools up to date!
- “Get Better at Saying No” – Stop overextending yourself and be willing to politely and positively tell people “no.”
- “Use Templates for Everything” – Design things with the intent of being able to use them repeatedly.
The best thing about these productivity hacks is the reasoning behind them. Hyatt states in the podcast: “To me, it’s not so much about more productivity; it’s about creating more margin for the things that are truly important.”
I encourage you to read, study, and apply the superb productivity hacks and wisdom contained in this podcast. I also urge you to click on over and subscribe to Hyatt’s blog as well in order to receive consistent, relevant, and applicable tips. Start making time for what is truly important in your life.
