Different Level, Different You

Awhile back I posted the following quote to LinkedIn:

“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.” – Leonardo DiCaprio

A number of people commented on the post, including my good friend and colleague Marc Gelinas, who said this:

“Every level of our lives creates a (hopefully) better us. As we get better, that ‘new’ us lets us move to the next level with more strength, endurance and power. [So] let the demands continue!”

I just love how Marc expanded upon the original quote, wording it so well. This quote and Marc’s words remind me of Marshall Goldsmith’s bestselling book, What Got You Here Won’t Get You There, which has a telling subtitle: “How Successful People Become Even More Successful.”

No matter how successful you may be, you should never stop learning, growing, and improving. You shouldn’t settle for “good enough” and let yourself (or your business or organization) plateau. You can’t just keep doing the same thing without ever adapting to the changing world around you. As the quote above implies, there will always be new and different needs, which demand growth, improvement, and adaptability.

“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.” And as Marc pointed out, every level of your life will create a different you—hopefully a better, stronger you. So leverage that! And remember, whether personally, professionally or organizationally, never stop trying to improve, innovate, and make great even greater!
