I recently stumbled across an old email a colleague sent me a few years ago with the link to an article and the words, “You’ll love this.” She was right. The article was one written by author and speaker Jeff Haden, titled “10 Cherished Beliefs of Highly Successful People.”
The full article is well worth the read (and I highly recommend it). Haden compiled an excellent list that portrays the beliefs and habits of highly successful people, including gems like “They believe real leadership is measured in years, not moments,” and “They believe work comes first, payoff later.”
But the thing that really stood out to me in Haden’s article was the commentary he added to describe and explain each of these beliefs. Jeff Haden is an excellent and thoughtful writer, and that can be clearly seen in these 5 superb quotes of his.
- “If you’re willing to work hard and persevere, who you are is more than enough. Don’t measure yourself against other people.” – Jeff Haden
- “The only thing holding you back is you—and your willingness to try.” – Jeff Haden
- “The one thing you can always be is the last person to give up on yourself.” – Jeff Haden
- “Forget about receiving and focus on providing; that’s the only way to establish a real connection and relationship.” – Jeff Haden
- “Incredibly successful people see compensation as the reward for exceptional effort, not the driver—whether that reward is financial, or personal, or simply the satisfaction that comes from achieving what you worked incredibly hard to achieve.” – Jeff Haden
I highly recommend you read, remember, and hold onto these quotes for later reference. And check out Jeff Haden’s hundreds of articles on LinkedIn. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
