No matter what job you have, most likely your position doesn’t require all of your talents. There are certain skills, hobbies, and unique abilities that you could bring to the table, but there just doesn’t seem to be a need for them in your current position.
It might be singing, dancing, painting, writing, photography, video editing, coding, woodworking, decorating, physical fitness, animal training, cooking, sewing, or any of thousands of wonderful, unique talents that aren’t often utilized in the corporate world.
Every person in your workplace and on your team has unique gifts and abilities all over the creative spectrum. Why not seek opportunities to engage, apply, and enjoy that creativity for a great cause? The countless benefits include building new connections, developing stronger relationships, creating fun memories, and discovering unique gifts throughout your team.
My friends at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Southlake, Texas have done just that. Together the hospital staff, clinicians, and physicians have produced a fun and creative video as part of a national competition designed to bring awareness to breast cancer.
The Pink Glove Dance Competition is an annual event sponsored by Medline and now celebrating its 4th year. During the competition dozens of videos are submitted from hospitals, health systems, and other organizations across the nation, all with the intent of having fun, raising awareness, and winning $10,000 for charity. The winning team video is based on public voting, which is happening NOW and ends September 23rd.

How about you and your organization? Do you proactively seek opportunities to engage, apply, and enjoy your team’s creativity for a great cause? You might not don pink gloves and do a silly dance down the hallway, but without a doubt there is something fun and creative your team can do together for a great cause.
Think about it! Gather ideas! Tap into the creativity surrounding you—you might be surprised by the results.
If you enjoy the video, I invite you to vote for my friends at Texas Health Southlake! To see all of this year’s Pink Glove Dance videos, please click here.
