Some people seem to have all the luck. You know, those people who score the coolest assignments at work, find the best shopping deals, win random radio contests, marry gorgeous spouses, raise genius kids, and whose investments always pay off ten-fold. You know, those people you love to hate.

Are some people really just luckier than others? Maybe. But many of the most successful people in the world make their own luck. In a recent article featured on Inc.com, journalist Bill Murphy Jr. wrote, “Much of what we think of as simple good fortune can be explained if we look hard, so forget about a lucky horseshoe and study what ‘luckier’ people do.”

That is the first of thirteen ways Murphy shares for making your own luck. The other twelve ways include:

  • Take the initiative
  • Focus on a few things
  • Become a little more expert
  • Meet more people
  • Call old friends
  • Make a game of failure
  • Visualize success and plan for it
  • Craft your story
  • Share your story
  • Write down good things
  • Copy from the greats
  • Put others first

Excellent advice for anyone who desires to achieve greater success! Luck is not a plan, but you can plan to have more luck.”
