Don’t Wait for Later and Don’t Wait till Too Late

Last year the world lost a remarkable man, talented speaker, and incredible teacher. Though several months have gone by since Zig Ziglar passed away, I still frequently reflect on the awesome legacy he left behind, and hardly a day goes by when one of his quotes or some of his advice doesn’t pass through my mind.

In the days and weeks following his death, countless tributes to Zig were written and published by those who knew and appreciated him – including myself (click here to read my tribute to Zig). I read and took note of several poignant “Thank Yous” to Zig, and just this week I reread Seth Godin’s post from the morning of Zig’s passing.

Seth’s post is very touching and sincere. If you truly knew this man Seth wrote about, it will bring tears to your eyes. Reading Seth’s post, I started reflecting on the power of “Thank you.” I am so glad I had the opportunity to express my appreciation to Zig before he left this world, as I’m sure many others did as well.

While the tributes to a late friend and cherished mentor are incredibly special and significant, how much more powerful those same words are when spoken to that person before they’re gone!

Every life has an expiration date, and sometimes they come much sooner than we expect. Don’t wait for later and don’t wait till too late; take the time now to put into words the heartfelt gratitude you feel for those special people in your life. A poignant tribute at their passing is important, but even more important is the expression of that gratitude right now, while they’re still with us – and you!

Don’t wait.
