Your Number One Priority – “People Matter”

You have heard it, read it, and probably have said it a thousand times – “people matter!”

So easy to hear it and reaffirm your agreement.  So easy to read it and nod in agreement.  So easy to say it and expect everyone to immediately express agreement.  So easy to rally around the concept and philosophy that – “people matter.”

Far more difficult to consistently live it.  Far more difficult to convince or inspire others to truly commit for the long term and live it.  Far more unusual to observe and work with people who constantly model and exemplify it.

Yet, it is the critical key to your success and the success of every human on the planet.  Whether in our personal, professional or organizational lives, the only thing that really does matter is that – “people matter.”

Absolutely nothing will have a greater impact on your life, your success, your journey, your accomplishments, your happiness, your fulfillment, or your legacy, than relationships –“people matter.”

Since nothing will have a greater impact on your life, success, accomplishments and legacy than people and relationships, people and relationships should automatically become your number one priority.  Nothing is more important – “people matter!”

Take a look at your priority list for today, this week, this month, this year.  Where is your number one priority?  Where are people and relationships?  For you to be successful, whatever your definition of success – “people matter.”

Carefully examine where and how you spent your priceless, irreplaceable time last week, last month, last year.  Where was your number one priority?  Actions speak far louder than words.  Specifically, what did you do and how much time did you spend on your number one priority – the priority that will most impact your life?

More than anything else in life – people matter – relationships matter.

Consistent with the well-known and indisputable 80/20 rule, spend your priceless time and energy on the 20%.  The top priority of the 20% is people.  Focus on consistently improving and expanding positive relationships; virtually everything else in your life will properly and beautifully fall in place.

Regardless of what you do or where you live, your number one personal, professional and organizational priority should be consistently improving relationships – “People Matter!”
