Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn

Leadership expert and author John Maxwell has written yet another book worthy of study, reflection, and action. The book is titled Sometimes You Win – Sometimes You LearnLife’s Greatest Lessons Are Gained From Our Losses.

Like many great books, there are not necessarily a lot of new revelations, but rather critical reminders of what is truly important in our personal, professional, and organizational lives and leadership.

Maxwell points out that many people live the philosophy, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.” The message is, “Hope to win, expect to lose, and live with the results either way.”

Maxwell correctly points out that this is NOT how winners think!

“Successful people approach losing differently. They don’t try to brush failure under the rug. They don’t run away from their losses. Their attitude is never ‘sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.’ Instead they think, ‘sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.’ They understand that life’s greatest lessons are gained from our losses—if we approach them the right way.”

You are invited to join us in a series of articles that will probe deeply into this book. We will study and discuss critically important ways and results of leading and living embodied in the philosophy and habit of ‘sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.’

I encourage you to buy, read, and study the book as we move through this series. Don’t miss a single article in this series. This book, and our study, could very well have an important positive impact in your life and your leadership.
