Inexhaustible Treasures

In the excellent book The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea, The Chairman, a very wise and successful entrepreneur and business leader is coaching Joe, a new student and mentee.  The Chairman leans toward Joe in order to assure being heard with absolute clarity.

With all the emphasis he can muster, The Chairman looks deep into the eyes of Joe and makes an extremely powerful, life-changing, life-liberating statement:

“Most of us have grown up seeing the world as a place of limitation rather than a place of inexhaustible treasures.  A world of competition rather than one of co-creation.”

Never losing eye contract, The Chairman leans back in his chair, pauses for several seconds in order to maximize impact, and then says, “Well, it’s simply not true!”

In the greater scheme of things, our world and our universe is not a place of limitation. And neither are you!

Our world and our universe is full of inexhaustible treasures.  And so are you!

There are millions of obvious examples.  Here are just a couple:

  •  Just a few centuries ago, the world was flat… or so said the experts and gurus of the day.  There was a limit, after which we would simply fall off the end of the earth…
  • Even when the north american continent (check) was discovered there was not even a remote understanding or concept of it’s potential.
  • Just in my life time, computers, software, the Internet, social media, digitization of virtually everything have revolutionized our world, with not even a hint of limitation in sight!  Incalculable opportunities and treasures have been discovered and created.  And, as each new or differently configured treasure is discovered or created, the ever expanding explosion of inexhaustible opportunities continue.
  • Did you know that 99.9 percent of all animal life that has inhabited our world (check this) is now extinct?  99.9 percent!  And yet we can barely comprehend the number, diversity and limitless potential of what lives in our world today.  What a mind-blowing example of inexhaustible treasures!

Our individual and collective potential has always been grossly underestimated… just as it is today.  If you are alive and reasonably healthy today, it is virtually 100 percent guranteed that your potential is grossly underestimated.

A world of limitation?  No way!  Inexhaustible treasures?  Absolutely!
